All About DBSK!

Dong Bang Shin Ki / Tohoshinki / Tong Vfang Xien Qi is a five member Korean-pop boyband consisting of Xiah Junsu (high baritone), Micky Yoochun (low baritone), Hero Jaejoong (main vocal), Max Changmin (maknae, high tenor) and U-Know Yunho (leader, bass). The name Dong Bang Shin Ki means “Rising Gods From The East”, which accurately defines their place as top idols of the Korean-pop world. They debuted in 2003 with their first single, “Hug”.

Their fanclub, Cassiopeia, is recorded in the Guinness World Records for having over 800,000 official members in South Korea alone. Their fanclub’s official color is Pearl Red.

They major in Acappella, dance, pop and R&B genres. With all the members currently in their mid 20’s, the group’s main concept as of this moment is showing off their manly and masculine presences.

Kim Junsu (Xiah) was born on the 15th of December, 1986, and is best known for his aegyo and breath-taking voice. Nicknamed “Duckbutt” by his fans for his extraordinarily big butt, “Dolphin” for his high-pitched voice, “Eu Kyang Kyang” for his special laugh. He was born in Gyeonggi-do and plays the piano.

Park Yoochun (Micky) was born on the 6th of June, 1986, and is best known for his composing and very “passionable” English. Nicknamed “ChunFace” by his fans for his funny candid shots and facial expressions. He was born in Seoul and plays the piano.

Kim Jaejoong (Hero) was born on the 4th of February, 1986, but his parents changed his birthday to the 26th of January for auspicious reasons. Best known for his ethereal looks and heavenly voice. He was born in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do and plays the piano. He can cook and is called the mother of the band for his caring and motherly nature.

Shim Changmin (Max) was born on the 18th of February, 1988 and is the youngest in DBSK. Best known for his height, mismatched eye smile and his ability to reach high notes with ease. He was born in Seoul.

Jung Yunho (U-Know) was born on the 6th of February and is the leader of DBSK. Best known for his deep voice and unbelievably awesome dancing skills. He was born in Gwangju, and is a caring and fatherly role to the other members.

DBSK’s latest album as five is “Mirotic”, released in 2008 and sold over 500,000 physical copies. Tohoshinki’s lastest single is “Please Stop Time”, also known as “Toki Wo Tomete”, which sold over 400,000 copies.

After filing the lawsuit against SM Entertainment, the three members, Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu formed a trio JYJ and released an all-English album, “The Beginning”, and the trio held fanmeetings all over Asia, even expanding to the United States. “The Beginning” was also voted the 5th best album for 2010 on the Billboard Charts.

Yunho and Changmin decided to keep DBSK’s name alive and recently released “Keep Your Head Down”, a 10-track Korean album which was a hit, marking the “return of the gods”, they topped several music charts in Korea and Japan. Their concept was dark and masculine, capturing the hearts of many fans.

Until now, not much has been revealed on how the lawsuit is still going, but the hopes of the fans will never cease for the five boys to perform together on stage again. “Always Keep The Faith” has been Cassiopeia’s main motto till today, and the fans have promised to love all five of the boys no matter what. Because without any of the boys, DBSK wouldn’t be what they are today. DBSK, JYJ, HoMin, whatever, a name is just a name, because we all know, the boys that are in those subgroups are the ones that made all this possible. As Cassiopeia we should support all five of them till the end. 5-1=0, call my math a fail, but this is what I’m going to believe in.
